This notice affects single built-in electric ovens only – no appliance purchased before March 2007 is affected. Electrolux’s own notice states: if your oven is affected, you must use the grill function with the oven door closed, in line with the manufacturer’s instructions. A safety notice has been issued for a limited number of single built-in electric ovens under the Electrolux, Zanussi-Electrolux, Moffat and Tricity Bendix brands. A potential fire risk exists when using the grill function. If you have an affected appliance, follow the manufacturer’s specific grill usage instruction until the issue has been addressed – and contact Electrolux to confirm whether your oven is affected.

“Our quality control programme has identified under certain circumstances there is a potential risk of fire whilst using the grill function on a limited number of Single Built In Electric Ovens branded Electrolux, Zanussi-Electrolux, Moffat and Tricity Bendix.”

Electrolux’s specific instruction for affected ovens is: “if your oven is affected you must ensure that you use the grilling function with the oven door closed in line with the manufacturer’s instructions.” Follow this instruction until the appliance has been inspected or modified by Electrolux.
What to Do

Check whether your oven is affected. Contact Electrolux with your model number and serial number. The model number is usually on a label inside the oven door frame or on the back of the appliance. Electrolux can confirm whether your specific unit is within the affected batch.

If affected – only use the grill with the door closed. This is Electrolux’s interim instruction for affected appliances. Do not use the grill with the door open until the appliance has been inspected or the issue resolved.

URGENT – Risk of explosion INDESIT dual oven
Outer door glass exploded outwardly during use, including embedded pieces of glass in the wall.
Unit is just over 2yrs old, and has been inspected by Indesit engineer no signs of misuse, or excessive strain to handles or hinges.
Fortunately no one was directly in front of the oven hence no injuries. If you have an Indesit oven take NOTICE.
