Candy Trio: Combined oven, hob and dishwasher
The Candy Trio is a single 600mm unit combining a hob, fan-assisted oven, and compact 6-place-setting dishwasher – designed for small kitchens where space is at a premium. Installation requires both cooking utilities and dishwasher plumbing at the same location, which can involve significant kitchen work in a conventional layout. Units manufactured between May 2005 and March 2008 are subject to a fire risk safety notice – contact Hoover Candy if you own one.
A fire risk safety notice has been issued for Candy Trio appliances manufactured between 2 May 2005 and 30 March 2008. If you own a Candy Trio, see our full safety notice for details: Candy Trio safety notice – fire risk.
The Candy Trio is an unusual concept in domestic kitchen appliances – a single 600mm-wide unit that combines a hob on top, a small fan-assisted oven in the middle, and a 6-place-setting dishwasher below. It was designed primarily for small kitchens where space is at a premium and a full-sized separate oven, hob, and dishwasher are not practical.
What the Candy Trio Is
The Trio occupies the same 600mm footprint as a standard built-in oven, allowing it to replace a single appliance slot while providing three functions. The dishwasher is a compact 6-place-setting unit – suited to one or two-person households. The oven is fan-assisted and comparable in size to the secondary oven in a conventional double oven. The hob is available in gas and electric variants.
Potential advantages
- Significant space saving – three appliances in a single 600mm cabinet slot
- Single installation point rather than three separate connections
- Practical for very small kitchens, studio flats, or single/couple households
Practical limitations
- Combining three different appliances with different plumbing and utility requirements into a single unit creates installation complexity in most kitchens
- Most kitchens have dishwasher plumbing near the sink and cooking utilities at a separate location – retrofitting the Trio may require kitchen modifications
- A fault with one component can render all three inaccessible depending on how the unit is designed
- The oven and dishwasher are both compact – not suitable for households needing full-sized cooking or dishwashing capacity
The Installation Challenge
The most significant practical question for anyone considering the Candy Trio is whether it can be installed in their kitchen without major work. In a typical UK kitchen, the dishwasher connection is close to the sink – which provides the cold water inlet and foul drain connection. The oven and hob connections are at a different location, near the electric spur or gas supply for cooking.
Installing a Trio requires both sets of utilities at the same point – cooking power (gas or electric) and dishwasher plumbing (cold water inlet and drain) in the same cabinet space. In a purpose-built small kitchen or studio flat this may be feasible from the outset. In an existing conventional kitchen it may require significant replumbing or rewiring.
The Candy Trio was designed for small kitchens where a conventional separate oven, hob, and dishwasher are not practical. In its intended application – a small kitchen serving one or two people – the installation constraints and compact capacities are an acceptable compromise for the space saved. In a conventional family kitchen it offers little advantage over separate appliances and poses installation difficulties.

1 reply Yeah Candy definitely still make them as my partner's mother (who lives in Italy) replaced hers last year with a new one. Now I'm trying to see if I can get one in the UK, but they appear to be non-existent over here! I guess as an Italian company, Candy decided to focus on the Italian/mainland European market. If anyone does discover a way of getting a Candy Trio in the UK, then I'd love to hear from them!
1 reply I want one! Where can I get one now? And do/did they do an induction hob version? Thanks Paul

0 replies Candy Trio is the best purchase I have ever made. Perfect oven, very good dishwasher. It is important not to use the oven and dishwasher at the same time. Candy Trio is not just for small kitchens. It is very useful for a small family where a large dishwasher is not needed. Candy Trio can hold 6 place settings.

0 replies We have had one for 6 years, the only problem we have had was the plastic trim on top of the dishwasher door cracked . This was due to the heat from the oven, The answer is just leave the dishwasher door slightly ajar. If anything happens to this one we will definately get another.

0 replies I had a candy Trio some 20 years ago and I had to replace when I could not get parts for the gas hob. The dishwasher worked without problems and the oven as well except for some initial temperature control problremsl.. When the Trio went out of production I bought a dishwasher and a zanussi cooker and I wish I hadn,'t. am 85 years of age and. I nearly gas myself twice as it is not fitted with a cut off. for the gas burners. Its sale should not have been allowed as it is dangerous.
