Terms of Use
These Terms of Use govern your use of Whitegoods Help and the services we make available through it, including Whitegoods Help – Find an Engineer. Last updated 2 September 2026.
1.These Terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") set out the conditions on which you may access and use Whitegoods Help, including our website, articles and guides, digital tools, artificial intelligence features, community or forum features where applicable, Whitegoods Help – Find an Engineer and other services that expressly refer or link to these Terms (together, the "Services").
By accessing or using our Services, you agree to comply with these Terms.
If a particular Service or feature has additional terms, rules or policies, those may apply in addition to these Terms. If there is a conflict, the more specific terms will apply to that particular Service or feature.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you should not use our Services.
2.Who We Are
Whitegoods Help is owned and operated by NAC (Domestic Appliances) Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 07531907. Registered office: 4 Calder Close, Calder Park, Wakefield, West Yorkshire, WF4 3BA.
Whitegoods Help is a consumer information, advice and appliance-help website. Certain parts of the website also enable visitors to find information about independent businesses and third-party services.
Where we refer to Whitegoods Help in these Terms, we mean the operator of the Whitegoods Help website and Services. It does not mean an independent repair business, parts supplier or other third party merely because that business is displayed, discussed or linked to through our Services.
3.Our Services
Whitegoods Help may provide or make available services including:
- appliance troubleshooting articles, guides and technical information
- safety, maintenance and buying advice
- information about appliance manufacturers, products and the appliance repair industry
- historical articles, discussions and forum content
- community and forum features
- artificial intelligence-assisted tools, including our Fault Finder
- Whitegoods Help – Find an Engineer, which allows visitors to search for and view information about independent appliance repair businesses
- links and signposting to spare parts suppliers and other third-party websites
- other appliance-related digital tools, information and services
Different parts of Whitegoods Help perform different functions.
Our editorial and diagnostic Services are primarily intended to provide general information and guidance.
Whitegoods Help – Find an Engineer is a directory and search service. It does not itself provide, book, arrange or manage appliance repairs.
Except where we expressly state otherwise, Whitegoods Help does not sell appliances or spare parts and does not supply domestic appliance repair services through this website.
4.Eligibility and Age
Our Services are primarily intended for adults and older teenagers.
If you are under 16, you should use the Services only with the knowledge and supervision of a parent or guardian, particularly where appliance safety, repair or contact with a third-party business is involved.
You must not misuse the Services or provide information that you do not have the right to provide.
5.General Information – Not Individual Professional Advice
Articles, guides, forum discussions, artificial intelligence-generated responses and other information made available through Whitegoods Help are provided for general informational and educational purposes.
Although we aim to provide useful and accurate information, content available through Whitegoods Help cannot take account of every individual appliance, installation, fault, electrical supply, property or personal circumstance.
Information on the website should therefore not be treated as a substitute for an inspection, diagnosis or advice from an appropriately competent professional where one is required.
No article, forum answer, AI response or other general content creates an engineer-client, adviser-client or other professional relationship between you and Whitegoods Help.
You should use reasonable judgement when deciding whether information is appropriate to your circumstances and seek appropriate professional assistance where necessary.
6.Appliance and Repair Safety
Domestic appliances may involve mains electricity, gas, water, moving components, high temperatures, stored electrical energy, sharp components and other hazards.
You should not attempt work that you are not competent to carry out safely.
In particular, you should seek appropriately qualified professional assistance before attempting work involving:
- gas appliances or gas systems
- exposed mains electrical components
- safety-critical components
- work requiring specialist competence, equipment or legal authorisation
- any situation where you are uncertain whether it is safe to continue
Gas work that legally requires a Gas Safe registered engineer must only be carried out by an appropriately registered person.
If information available through Whitegoods Help conflicts with manufacturer safety instructions or applicable legal requirements, you should follow the manufacturer instructions and applicable law.
7.Historic Content, Forum Content and User Contributions
Whitegoods Help contains a substantial body of historical material. Some articles and forum discussions were created before 24 March 2026 under previous ownership or management of the website.
Historical content may reflect:
- products or appliance models that are no longer current
- earlier industry practices
- earlier versions of laws, regulations or manufacturer guidance
- information that has subsequently changed
- the knowledge and opinions available at the time it was written
We may review, update, annotate, correct or remove historical material over time, but we cannot guarantee that every historic article, forum post or discussion has been reviewed or remains current.
Where information is important to safety, legal rights or a significant financial decision, you should check that it remains current.
Forum posts, comments, reviews and other user contributions represent the views and experiences of their respective authors. They do not necessarily represent the views of Whitegoods Help.
Where the Services permit users to contribute content, we may moderate, edit, restrict or remove content where reasonably necessary, including where we believe that it is unlawful, misleading, abusive, defamatory, unsafe, spam, infringes another person's rights or breaches our rules.
8.AI Fault Finder and Other Artificial Intelligence Features
Whitegoods Help may provide artificial intelligence-assisted tools, including Fault Finder.
These tools use automated technology to analyse information supplied by a user and generate a response.
AI-generated information may:
- contain errors
- misunderstand the information supplied
- omit relevant information
- suggest an incorrect diagnosis
- provide information that is not appropriate to the particular appliance or circumstances
- become outdated
An AI response is not equivalent to a physical inspection of an appliance and does not constitute a professional diagnosis or guarantee that a particular fault has been identified.
You should not rely solely on an AI-generated response where safety, significant expenditure or potentially hazardous repair work is involved.
Information entered into AI-enabled Services may be processed by third-party technology providers in order to provide the relevant Service. Details of how personal data and user inputs are handled are explained in our Privacy and Cookie Policy.
You should not submit passwords, payment information, confidential information, unnecessary personal information or sensitive personal data through the Fault Finder.
9.Whitegoods Help – Find an Engineer
9.1 What Find an Engineer is
Whitegoods Help – Find an Engineer ("Find an Engineer") is an online directory and search service.
It is designed to help consumers identify independent domestic appliance repair businesses that state that they operate in a particular area or provide particular appliance repair services.
A listing may display information including:
- business or trading name
- areas served
- appliance types or services offered
- telephone number
- website address
- other contact information
- call-out or diagnostic charges
- ratings or reviews
- other information relevant to the business
Whitegoods Help does not provide the appliance repair service offered by an independent business appearing on Find an Engineer.
Our role is to operate the website and display information that helps visitors identify businesses they may wish to contact.
9.2 We Do Not Arrange the Introduction
Find an Engineer does not operate as a repair allocation or booking service.
When using Find an Engineer:
- you choose which business, if any, you wish to contact
- Whitegoods Help does not select or allocate an engineer to you
- Whitegoods Help does not send your enquiry to an engineer
- Whitegoods Help does not collect your name, address, telephone number or repair details for the purpose of passing them to an engineer
- Whitegoods Help does not make a repair appointment for you
- Whitegoods Help does not instruct a business to attend your property
- Whitegoods Help does not negotiate the repair on your behalf
If you decide to contact a business, you contact it directly using the telephone number, website or other contact details displayed in its listing.
Once you use those details to contact the business, your communication is with that business and not with Whitegoods Help.
9.3 Independent Repair Businesses
Businesses displayed as independent repair businesses through Find an Engineer operate separately from Whitegoods Help.
They determine their own:
- services and service areas
- working practices
- availability
- appointment arrangements
- diagnosis and repair methods
- prices and charges
- parts used or supplied
- payment arrangements
- employees, workers or subcontractors
- guarantees and warranties
- customer service and complaints procedures
Whitegoods Help does not supervise an independent business while it carries out a repair and does not control how that business performs its services.
Some listed businesses may have separate commercial or contractual relationships with NAC (Domestic Appliances) Ltd, Whitegoods Help or another organisation.
The existence of a separate commercial relationship does not, by itself, make Whitegoods Help the supplier of a repair that you independently arrange directly with the listed business.
Where the legal or commercial status of a particular listing materially differs from the independent-business model described in this section, we will aim to make that distinction clear.
9.4 Your Contract Is With the Repair Business
If you contact a business found through Find an Engineer and subsequently ask that business to provide a repair or other service, the contract for that service is between you and that business.
Whitegoods Help is not a party to that contract.
This applies to matters including:
- call-outs
- inspections
- diagnostics
- quotations
- labour
- repairs
- replacement parts
- additional work
- charges
- payment
- cancellations
- return visits
- warranties
- guarantees
The repair business is responsible for providing the service it agrees to provide and for complying with the legal and contractual obligations that apply to that service.
Your statutory consumer rights relating to a repair remain with the business supplying the repair and are not removed or reduced by these Terms.
9.5 Information About Listed Businesses
Information displayed on Find an Engineer may be supplied by the listed business itself or derived from other information available to Whitegoods Help.
We may take reasonable steps to maintain the usefulness and accuracy of the directory, but information about an independent business can change without our knowledge.
You should therefore confirm important information directly with the business before instructing it.
This particularly includes:
- whether it serves your exact location
- whether it repairs your appliance type, make or model
- its current availability
- call-out charges
- diagnostic charges
- labour and parts charges
- payment arrangements
- cancellation terms
- insurance
- relevant qualifications or registrations
- any repair warranty or guarantee
A business appearing in search results does not guarantee that it will be available or willing to accept a particular job.
9.6 Checks, Qualifications and Inclusion in the Directory
The inclusion of a business within Find an Engineer should not be interpreted as a guarantee by Whitegoods Help of that business's:
- workmanship
- honesty
- financial standing
- conduct
- availability
- qualifications
- insurance
- personnel
- diagnosis
- suitability for a particular job
- outcome of any repair
Unless a listing or Whitegoods Help expressly states that a particular check has been undertaken, you should not assume that Whitegoods Help has independently verified that particular matter.
Where we state that a particular check, document or qualification has been reviewed or confirmed, that statement relates only to the specific check described and the position at the time the check was carried out.
It does not amount to a continuing guarantee of the business, its employees, its future conduct or the quality of any particular repair.
You remain free to make your own enquiries before instructing a business.
Where a particular legal registration is required for the work concerned — for example Gas Safe registration for relevant gas work — you should satisfy yourself that the person carrying out the work holds the appropriate current registration.
9.7 Prices and Charges
Independent businesses determine their own prices and commercial terms.
Find an Engineer may display information such as a call-out or diagnostic charge supplied by a listed business.
Any price shown should be confirmed directly with the business before you instruct it because:
- prices may change
- additional work or parts may carry additional charges
- different appliance types or locations may be priced differently
- circumstances identified during diagnosis may affect the final cost
Whitegoods Help does not set, negotiate or collect an independent repair business's repair charges unless we expressly state otherwise.
Under the normal Find an Engineer service, payment for a repair is made directly between you and the independent business.
Whitegoods Help is not responsible for collecting refunds or settling payment disputes between you and a repair business.
9.8 Repair Warranties and Guarantees
Any warranty or guarantee relating to:
- workmanship
- a diagnosis
- replacement parts
- labour
- return visits
- another element of a repair
is provided by the repair business offering that warranty or guarantee unless Whitegoods Help expressly states otherwise.
You should ask the business to explain its warranty or guarantee before agreeing to the repair and retain any relevant invoice, receipt or other documentation.
Whitegoods Help does not provide a warranty or guarantee for repairs carried out by independent businesses merely because those businesses appear in Find an Engineer.
9.9 Commercial Relationships and Listing Position
A repair business may participate in Find an Engineer under a commercial arrangement with Whitegoods Help, NAC (Domestic Appliances) Ltd or another associated organisation.
Such arrangements may include fees, business relationships or other forms of participation.
A commercial relationship does not change the identity of the business that contracts with you for a repair arranged directly between you and that business.
Where payment, sponsorship or another commercial arrangement materially affects how a listing is promoted, prioritised or presented and disclosure is required, we will aim to identify that appropriately.
9.10 Ratings and Reviews
Find an Engineer may display ratings, reviews or other feedback concerning listed businesses.
Reviews reflect the experiences and opinions of individual reviewers.
They do not constitute a guarantee from Whitegoods Help that you will receive the same experience.
We may operate moderation, fraud-prevention and review-management processes and may decline, investigate, restrict or remove reviews where appropriate.
A review should not be assumed to have been independently verified as originating from a customer unless it is clearly described as verified under the applicable review process.
Whitegoods Help does not adopt every statement contained within a published review as its own statement or opinion.
9.11 Complaints About a Repair Business
If you have a complaint concerning an actual repair service — including workmanship, diagnosis, engineer conduct, charges, payment, property damage, appointments, parts, warranties or failure to attend — you should raise that complaint directly with the repair business that supplied or agreed to supply the service.
That business is responsible for responding to complaints relating to its own contract and services.
You may also report concerns about a business appearing on Find an Engineer to Whitegoods Help at admin@whitegoodshelp.co.uk.
Information supplied to us may be considered when deciding whether:
- information in a listing should be amended
- further information should be requested from a business
- a listing should be restricted or suspended
- a business should continue to appear within Find an Engineer
Our consideration of a complaint for directory-management purposes does not make Whitegoods Help a party to the repair contract.
If we voluntarily contact the business, request information or otherwise attempt to assist, this does not mean that Whitegoods Help:
- has accepted responsibility for the repair
- becomes liable for the business's actions
- has taken over the business's contractual obligations
- guarantees that the dispute will be resolved
- is acting as an insurer, adjudicator or alternative dispute resolution provider
Unless we expressly say otherwise, Whitegoods Help does not determine who is legally right or wrong in a dispute between a consumer and an independent repair business.
9.12 Responsibility for Independent Repair Services
The repair service itself is supplied by the independent business with which you contract, not by Whitegoods Help.
Whitegoods Help is therefore not responsible merely because a business appears in Find an Engineer for that business's:
- diagnosis
- workmanship
- advice
- parts
- charges
- quotations
- representations
- attendance or failure to attend
- delays
- cancellations
- behaviour
- employees or subcontractors
- property damage
- warranties or guarantees
- other acts or omissions in supplying the repair service
A claim arising from the performance of the repair service should normally be pursued against the business that supplied that service.
This section does not exclude responsibility that applicable law places directly upon Whitegoods Help for Whitegoods Help's own acts or omissions.
10.Spare Parts, Products and Other Third-Party Services
Whitegoods Help may provide links or signposting to spare parts suppliers, retailers, manufacturers or other third-party products and services.
Unless we expressly state that Whitegoods Help is the seller, any purchase is made from the third-party seller concerned.
That third party is responsible for matters including:
- product description
- compatibility
- pricing
- stock
- delivery
- payment
- cancellation
- returns
- refunds
- product warranties
- its contractual and statutory obligations to you
You should check the third party's own terms and policies before purchasing.
Whitegoods Help may in some circumstances receive a commission or other commercial benefit from links or referrals. Where disclosure is required, we will identify the commercial nature of the relationship appropriately.
11.Third-Party Websites and External Links
Our Services contain links to websites and services operated by third parties.
When you follow an external link, you leave the Whitegoods Help environment and the third party's own terms, privacy policy and other rules may apply.
We do not control third-party websites and cannot guarantee that they will always be available, accurate, secure or suitable for your requirements.
The existence of a link does not, by itself, mean that Whitegoods Help endorses every statement, product or service available on the linked website.
This section should be read together with the specific provisions relating to Find an Engineer and third-party suppliers above.
12.Information and Content You Submit
Where a Service allows you to submit text, questions, reviews, forum posts, comments, images or other material ("User Content"), you are responsible for the content you submit.
You must not knowingly submit content that:
- you do not have the right to provide
- infringes another person's copyright, privacy or other rights
- is defamatory
- is unlawful
- is fraudulent or deliberately misleading
- contains malware or malicious code
- impersonates another person or business
- contains another person's personal information without proper justification
- constitutes spam or unauthorised advertising
- is otherwise abusive or seriously inappropriate
You retain ownership of your original User Content.
By submitting User Content for publication or use within the Services, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, format and otherwise use that content to the extent reasonably necessary to operate, moderate, maintain and promote the relevant Whitegoods Help Service.
This licence does not transfer ownership of your User Content to us.
We may remove or restrict User Content where reasonably necessary to operate the Services or comply with legal obligations.
13.Acceptable Use
You may use Whitegoods Help for lawful purposes.
You must not:
- use the Services unlawfully or fraudulently
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems, accounts, servers or data
- deliberately interfere with the operation or security of the Services
- introduce malware or other harmful code
- use automated systems to place an unreasonable load on our infrastructure
- scrape, harvest or systematically extract our content or database without permission
- systematically harvest contact information about businesses or users for unsolicited marketing
- attempt to bypass security or access restrictions
- impersonate Whitegoods Help, a listed business or another person
- use our branding in a way that falsely suggests an association, endorsement or partnership
- use Whitegoods Help data to build or populate a competing directory, database, product or service without our permission
Normal use of search engines and other legitimate services that index publicly accessible web pages is not prohibited by this section merely because automated technology is involved.
14.Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, intellectual property rights in the Whitegoods Help website, branding, original articles, graphics, software, databases, tools and other original materials belong to us or our licensors.
You may:
- view our publicly available content
- use it for your own personal information and reference

You may not, without appropriate permission:
- reproduce substantial portions of our content on another website or service
- republish our articles as your own
- commercially exploit our content or database
- systematically copy or extract engineer-directory information
- remove copyright or proprietary notices
- use Whitegoods Help trademarks or branding in a misleading manner
Third-party material remains the property of its respective owner and may be subject to separate rights.
15.Availability and Changes to the Services
We aim to maintain useful and reliable Services, but websites and online tools may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, technical problems, security issues or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
We do not guarantee that every Service will remain available indefinitely.
We may reasonably:
- update or replace features
- correct or remove content
- change the structure of the website
- add or remove listings
- suspend services for technical or security reasons
- discontinue a Service
Where a change materially affects a paid service or other contractual commitment, any additional terms governing that service will also apply.
16.Our Responsibility to You
16.1 What We Do Not Exclude
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.
In particular, nothing excludes or limits our liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by our negligence
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
- any legal rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited
- any responsibility arising from our own acts or omissions where the law does not permit us to exclude that responsibility
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
16.2 Foreseeable Loss
If we fail to comply with these Terms or fail to exercise reasonable care and skill where the law requires us to do so, we are responsible for loss or damage caused by that failure where the loss or damage was a reasonably foreseeable result.
Loss or damage is foreseeable if it was obvious that it might occur or if both you and we knew when you used the relevant Service that it might occur.
16.3 Matters Outside Our Responsibility
We are not responsible for loss or damage caused by a separate third party where Whitegoods Help is not legally responsible for that third party's acts or omissions.
This includes, subject to Section 16.1:
- repair services independently contracted with a business found through Find an Engineer
- products purchased from an external retailer or supplier
- content or services provided by external websites
- another user's independent statements or conduct
The specific provisions in Sections 9, 10 and 11 explain these relationships in greater detail.
16.4 General Information and Automated Outputs
We provide substantial amounts of information free of charge and without inspecting the individual appliance concerned.
Where we have made clear that information is general, historic, automated or requires professional verification, you should take those limitations into account before acting upon it.
This does not exclude responsibility for our own negligence or another liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
16.5 Business Losses
Whitegoods Help is primarily intended for consumers.
If you use our Services mainly for purposes connected with your trade, business or profession, we will not be responsible for purely commercial losses such as loss of profit, loss of revenue, loss of business opportunity or business interruption, except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.
18.Suspension or Restriction of Access
We may restrict or suspend access to all or part of the Services where reasonably necessary, including where:
- you materially breach these Terms
- your activity creates a security or technical risk
- we reasonably suspect fraud, abuse or unlawful activity
- restriction is required to comply with law or a regulatory obligation
Where appropriate and reasonably practicable, we may give notice or an opportunity to remedy the issue.
You may stop using the Services at any time.
19.Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms where reasonably necessary, for example because:
- our Services change
- a new Service is introduced
- the way a Service operates changes
- applicable law or regulatory guidance changes
- wording needs clarification or correction
The current version will be published on Whitegoods Help and will show the date on which it was last updated.
Changes apply to use of the Services from the effective date of the updated Terms.
Where a material change affects an ongoing account-based or paid relationship and we hold suitable contact details, additional notice may be provided where appropriate.
20.General
20.1 If Part of These Terms Is Invalid
If a court or other competent authority decides that part of these Terms is unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.
20.2 Delay in Enforcing These Terms
If we do not immediately exercise a right available under these Terms, that does not necessarily mean that we have waived that right.
20.3 No Partnership or Agency
These Terms do not create a partnership, joint venture or agency relationship between you and Whitegoods Help.
The inclusion of a third-party business within Whitegoods Help does not itself create a partnership, joint venture or agency relationship between Whitegoods Help and that business.
20.4 Third-Party Rights
Unless these Terms expressly state otherwise, a person who is not a party to these Terms does not have the right to enforce them.
20.5 Our Agreement With You
These Terms set out the basis on which you may use Whitegoods Help.
Nothing in this section excludes liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation or any statutory or other right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
21.Governing Law and Courts
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer:
- if you live in England or Wales, you may bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales
- if you live in Scotland, you may normally bring legal proceedings in Scotland or England and Wales
- if you live in Northern Ireland, you may normally bring legal proceedings in Northern Ireland or England and Wales
If you access the Services from another jurisdiction, you may also have mandatory consumer rights under the law applicable where you live that these Terms cannot remove.
