For engineers
Whitegoods Help – Find an Engineer sends genuine local repair work to independent engineers. No lead fees in Phase 1 — apply, get verified, and appear in searches for your postcode districts.
Listings for independent appliance repair businesses open shortly. There is nothing to submit yet and this is not a waiting list - what follows is what the process will be when it opens.
The process
Three steps, and no contract to sign before you have seen what your listing looks like.
Trading name, contact details, the postcode districts you travel to and the appliances you work on.
Identity and business details are checked before anything is published. Supply evidence of public liability cover and that is recorded on your profile too.
You get access to the engineer portal to finish the profile, add your logo and set your pricing, then you appear in searches for your districts.
Before you apply
Nothing here needs sending yet. It is what the application will ask for, so it can be to hand when it opens.
Your business details
Trading name, the name of whoever runs it, and a contact number and email.
The districts you cover
The postcode districts you actually travel to, rather than a radius from your base.
What you work on
The appliance types you repair, and the brands if you are approved for particular ones.
How you price
A call-out charge, a fixed price, or quote-only - and whether VAT applies and how parts are handled.
Public liability cover
Evidence of your policy in the business name, so the cover can be recorded on the profile.
Qualifications you hold
Trade tickets and certificates, if you have them. Optional.
Company number
If you are a limited company. Sole traders are listed the same way.
Gas Safe registration
Only if you work on gas appliances. It is checked against the register.
The checks
Each check is recorded against your profile by name, so a customer sees what was actually confirmed rather than one badge standing in for everything.
All seven are shown here. On your profile the ones completed are coloured and the rest grey, and several do not apply to every business - a firm that does not touch gas is not marked down for it.
