I was attending a trade meeting and saw a presentation by the sales director at Gorenje UK. I’m often asked about Gorenje washing machines and I must admit I hadn’t known much about them before this presentation. The first thing I learnt was how to pronounce the name properly, which is always nice to know. The j is pronounced as a y, and the e more like an A, so it’s “Gorenya”.
Although Gorenje are relatively new in the UK they are a very well established company selling washing machines and other products in 70 countries. From what I can see Gorenje UK make decent quality washing machines with a 5 year parts and labour guarantee. I also like the fact that they are one of the few companies that work closely with independent repairers and local independent retailers, which should help local repairers to be able to fix them.

Bought Gorenje washing machine last autumn (2014). Has proved to be inferior machine. Sold to us as although only maximum 1200 spin, the height of the drum means equivalent drying to a 1400 – what a load of baloney. Never spins effectively enough plus if you load it with heavier items like duvet covers it fails to spin at all likely as not and you then have the bother of having to reset the machine and dry sopping wet laundry. My advice is don’t touch one of these machines.
I’ve had my Gorenje machine for about 7 years now and I do between 2 – 4 washes a day so it’s very well used. The only thing that’s ever gone wrong with it was the carbon brushes needed replacing. It’s lasted longer than any other brand I’ve had, which all needed major expensive repairs at some point in their lifetime. I would definitely get another one
Will not spin when I put hand washed individual items on spin cycle . My old gorenjie machine was brilliant ,that’s why I bought another one ,but I regret my decision . Lots of issues
To be fair Marian, not spinning single items of laundry or small loads affects all modern washing machines – Washing machine won’t spin just one item or very small load
