Watch out for so-called special offers
I regularly publish special offers and discounts from retailers and many are genuine bargains but I can’t check them all out. I’ve just seen something that reminds me that you need to stay sceptical about many retailers “special offers”.
An example of this is the Tricity Bendix AW1201W which Currys are currently selling at £364.99*. Tricity Bendix are one of the cheapest washing machines around so as soon as I saw this price I knew it was way off the mark. This same washing machine is £230 at most other retailers listed on Kelkoo
If a retailer tells you there’s a huge discount off a product then there probably is because it’s illegal to advertise such things unless true, however, it doesn’t mean that it is that amount cheaper than other retailers, and it can mean they inflated the price for 30 days before. I expect the price of the AW1201W to be in a sale sometime soon.
Always double check prices before assuming an offer is as good as it seems.

* In the interests of keeping an open mind, I have to mention the possibility that this price is a genuine mistake. However, the practice I refer to is common with some retailers.

I know exactly what you mean! When I was buying my Polti steam cleaner, we thought we’d go and visit electrical shops in a cheaper area. Curry’s in this area had the Polti steam cleaner which was lower in the range than the one I wanted on a ’special promotion’ but the price was higher than the top of the range one cost normally in Peter Jones!
P.S. Love the site and your efforts, have been visiting on and off for a few years.
