After many hours of work writing a review (that’s so long few will probably read it all) I’ve posted my latest washing machine review for a John Lewis JLWD1609 Washer Dryer review

A Customer Review
I have purchased the John Lewis washer dryer (JLWD1609) as a replacement for separate washers & dryer units once my old one broke down (in fairness I had 12 years excellent service from my previous model so I cannot complain!). The space I have re-gained from not having a separate dryer has been put to immediate use for storage.
The machine is exceptionally quiet with a very wide variety of programmes and combinations – the delay start is a superb facility so that I can either get out of bed or in from work with the entire wash & dry cycle ending so that I can pull clothes out and hang them up straight away.
The 2 quick programmes (45 & 15 min washes) are fantastic for a quick freshen up. I generally use the 45 min wash for the washable rugs I place at the bottom of the rabbit cage. They come out clean & fresh.
The machine is well built, easy to use and provides excellent results, although the programmes can take a very long time to run, but overnight or whilst at work its not necessarily a problem.
The fast spin speed really does assist, to the point of it is worth a second spin as drying times can be reduced.
I am still learning about “extra dry” and “cupboard dry” but this is a trial & error process as I learn about the machine & its capabilities.
My only gripe is the access to the filter. I have to use a large flat baking tray under the filter outlet to drain out in order to clean the filter. This is a cumbersome task that would have been made alot easier if a small piece of rubber tubing was supplied.
Big white fluffy bath towels and remnants of straw from the rabbit’s mats are the greatest culprit of filter blockage. I have strated checking the filter after every second or third wash loads.
However, overall I would give this model 9 out of 10 – I am really impressed with quietness and quality.
Many thanks for that MrsT. I agree that a small pull out hose at the side of the pump filter is useful. There is a plug though where some washing machines have a small hose connected, and this plug will come off to allow water to drain into the tray without opening the main filter where it would flood out too fast.
