About Me
I’m Andy Trigg (47) with 30 years experience in the white goods trade (weighted towards washing machines). I’m giving away free help and advice. I’m also writing in a non technical and hopefully entertaining way about anything related to white goods in the UK including product reviews.
My aim is to be balanced and fair, as well as to give my advice freely and responsibly. Initially motivated by entirely altruistic motives, after several years I found myself in the position of being able to earn some money for my efforts. I believe this is because people trusted my advice enough to utilise carefully selected and on-topic affiliates on my sites. The challenge of proving to any (understandable) sceptics that my advice remains as honest and sincere as before is especially motivating.
I try to be open about affiliate links (which are used very sparingly) particularly if I give a direct recommendation. I’ve no wish to disguise adverts as apparently free advice. My policy is to only recommend products that I would recommend anyway - regardless of whether I have the ability to use an affiliate link or not, and not to use affiliate links (even though they are available to me) to products or stores that I don’t personally believe in or wouldn’t happily use myself.
This blog is hosted on Whitegoodshelp which is a container site for several new white goods sites hoping to emulate the success of my first site Washerhelp.

9 out of 10 people research online before buying
A recent article in a trade magazine for white and brown goods (ERT) reported on research from a study commissioned by a well known domestic appliance manufacture. Their results showed that 9 out of 10 shoppers are now researching products on the Internet before buying, and 74% of people said they would be influenced by comments and reviews online. 83% said they trust online consumer reviews and blogs.
Although no surprise (because I do all my own pre-purchasing research online) it is a reminder to me of the potential influence sites like Washerhelp and this white goods Blog can have these days and it inspires me to keep writing unbiased and balanced articles on white goods.
