Indesit or Hotpoint washing machine flashing 10 times (error F10)

Many basic UK Indesit washing machines fitted with a rotary dial indicate error codes by clicking the dial continuously round and flashing the door lock light a set number of times. If the door light (LED) flashes 10 times it means, “Pressure switch not sensing correctly: Check pressure switch and module”. As Hotpoint and Indesit washing machines are currently owned by the same company they share many things and some of the error codes are the same too as in this example.

Hoover Nextra error code 3

Q:

Hoover Nextra 6 (HNL7146) is stopping mid cycle and the start light and delay start light are flashing 3 times every minute or so and the door will not open and door locked light remains illuminated. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Washing machines with a 95 degree hot wash.

I recently had an email from Carol who was wanting to find a washing machine with a 95 degree hot wash. Most hot washes are 90 degrees, which is presumably hot enough, but for some reason she wanted 95 degrees. It turns out that some Miele, Samsung and LG washing machines apparently have a 95 degree hot wash. (This information was supplied to me after Carol put some work in on the telephone contacting retailers).

Buying an appliance for a rented property

I received an interesting email this morning regarding the guarantee on a new fridge to be installed in the purchaser’s rented property.

“I was told today at Currys that the manufacturer’s 12-month guarantee on a new fridge would not be valid as I was buying it for rented flat we own. They tried to sell me their insurance instead. Is this true?

Panasonic washing machines

I get quite a few emails asking what I think of Panasonic washing machines. It’s a good question because Panasonic have a very respected reputation for brown goods and as you can now buy Panasonic washing machines people are naturally interested in them, and wonder if they are just as good. I’m a fan of the Panasonic brand and currently have three of their products (a TV, a hard drive recorder, and a Blue-ray home cinema unit). I’ve also previously owned several of their VCR’s and cameras in the past and never had a single problem with any of them.
