How are fridges and freezers affected by the room temperature?

Refrigeration appliances can be affected by the environment they are placed in if the temperature moves outside the climate rating specified by the manufacturer ( Climate Classes for fridges, freezers and fridge-freezers ). They will cope with most of the UK weather but if the temperature drops below maybe 2 to 4 degrees Celsius a fridge may stop working.

Climate Classes for fridges, freezers and fridge-freezers

Fridges, freezers, and fridge-freezers are all designed to operate in specific temperature ranges (climates). If you place one in a kitchen or in a separate room inside your house it’s likely that it will operate as intended (although it’s not advisable to place a refrigeration appliance next to a heat source such as a radiator or a cooker, or even in strong direct sunlight).

Built in appliances

Built in washing machines and other appliances are desirable for may people with fitted kitchens. The downside to built appliances is that they often have smaller capacities due to them needing to fit in the confined space. They also tend to cost more, there’s less choice available and some engineers won’t touch them as they are often a real pain to get out and work on.

Miele washing machine model changes 2009

Miele have announced several model changes from their washing machine range. Some models have been discontinued and others have been replaced by new models. If you find a discontinued model on sale don’t let it put you off buying because Miele will still support the machine throughout its life. One of the models replaced is the W 3740 which I reviewed here – W 3740 review
