Do you think it outrageous if a repair company wants to charge you £40 (or even more) to send an engineer to diagnose a fault on your appliance? Duvet in tumble dryer fire risk

I received an email from John in Ireland regarding an incident with his new tumble dryer. His daughter put a single duvet into the dryer to dry, shortly after he smelt burning and opened the dryer door to find the duvet was smouldering with smoke and a huge hole had burned through it.

Refrigeration appliances can be affected by the environment they are placed in if the temperature moves outside the climate rating specified by the manufacturer ( Climate Classes for fridges, freezers and fridge-freezers ). They will cope with most of the UK weather but if the temperature drops below maybe 2 to 4 degrees Celsius a fridge may stop working.
