Modern tumble dryers usually use sensors to detect the dampness of laundry inside the drum. Lime in our water or cleaning agents can form a barely visible lining on the inside of the drum, which can interfere with the readings. The result could be that laundry can still be a little damp after drying.
John Lewis JLDWW1201 dishwasher safety recall

The other day I posted about the AEG-Electrolux dishwasher recall but bizarrely the important safety recall publicity doesn’t mention the John Lewis dishwasher, which is made by the AEG-Electrolux group and apparently similarly affected.
As it happens I popped into a John Lewis store this morning and they have a recall notice on the counter in the white goods section.

I’ve had an enquiry from someone who says their washing machine is not blocked, the pump runs, but it still won’t drain the water out and they are puzzled as it doesn’t make sense. I’ve added a new section to my washing machine pump faults called
Pump has no blockages, filter is clear and it runs but it still won’t drain water
