I still get people asking if I know of any washing machines with a hot water valve. There are just a few washing machines available with a hot water valve (some LG & Statesman models) but they hardly take any hot water in any more, particularly on 40 degree washes, which is the most common wash programme. They only take in hot water on washes above 60 degrees.
You don’t just use one detergent do you?
Did you know that although most people buy and use just one type of detergent you should get better results using at least two different types - possibly even three and if you want to use ecological detergent too maybe even four?
Reducing the height of a washing machine to fit under a worktop
Some people find their worktops have been fitted too low and their washing machine won’t fit underneath because it’s too tall. If you haven’t bought a washing machine yet and the height difference is only a few millimetres you may be able to find one that’s slightly lower than average although it’s not easy to research the height of washing machines and most are the same standard height anyway.

Eco-labels suggestion
Although the Eco-labels are a good idea and have been very useful, I think they have big flaws and could do with an overhaul. I have some critical comments on them here – ECO labels and washing machines
I’d love to see an extra section added to the eco-label rating – Expected (or average) life span.
