What does BER mean?

Repair companies keep using the term BER to customers. For some reason they expect them to know what it means but they commonly don’t. BER stands for beyond economical repair.

Unfortunately it’s very common for domestic appliances to be written off as “beyond economical repair” these days and repairers are so used to the acronym they often forget it’s a trade term.

Related Link: ISE washing machines are aimed at reversing this trend by refusing to mark up spare parts to make a profit. This makes ISE appliances much cheaper to repair and should substantially reduce the chances of them being “BER” in the future ISE appliances overview
